Background: INTRODUCTION The President of Togo, Mr. Gnassingbe Eyadema, arrived in the Gabonese capital of Libreville on Thursday (3 February) to begin a three day official visit.
SYNOPSIS: President Eyadema's visit was in return for Gabonese President Bongo's trip to Togo last month. The Gabonese leader headed the official government delegation waiting to greet President Eyadema at Libreville airport.
The two men are expected to have a series of talks on wide ranging subjects. Bilateral cooperation is, of course, one of the topics on their agenda. It's also believed that international matters with African interest will be covered.
Solidation of inter-African relations is the prime aim of both men. They strongly believe in a united and free Africa.
The current problems in Africa interest both President Eyadema and President Bongo. Presidential aides said the transition to majority rule in Rhodesia is likely to be discussed during the talks.
President Eyadema will leave Gabon on Sunday (6 February) to fly to Nigeria to attend the African Art Festival.
