    ROMAN CATHOLICS FROM TOGO, NIGERIA AND UPPER VOLTA LAST WEEK JOINED THOSE FROM DAHOMEY IN A PILGRIMAGE TO THE SHRINE OF OUR LADY OF ARIGBO IN DASSA-ZOUME. IT ENDED A SERIES OF PILGRIMAGES IN OUIDAH, LOKOSSA, CALAVI AND COTONOU.

    A HIGHLIGHT OF THE PILGRIMAGE WAS THE CELEBRATION OF PONTIFICAL MASS BY MONSIGNOR BERNADIN GANTIN, THE ARCHBISHOP OF COTONOU. FLANKED BY FOUR OTHER BISHOPS, HE LED THE PROCESSION TO THE HIGH ALTAR.

    A BIG CROWD - ESTIMATED AT 50,000 - GATHERED AT THE GROTTO OF OUR LADY OF ARIGBO WHERE THEY PRAYED, SOME IN GROUPS REPRESENTING THEIR RESPECTIVE COUNTRIES.

    AT THE FOOT OF THE ALTER STOOD GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS WITH THE HEADS OF VARIOUS CONGREGATIONS.

    MONSIGNOR ADIMOU OF LOKOSSA PREACHED ON THE THEME "GOD IS LOVE" WITH THE MAIN THEME OF THE PILGRIMAGE BEING "PEACE FOR ALL NATIONS."
