    Moro than 3,000 Ethiopian veteran soldiers marched on the Presidential Palace to claim money they say they're owed from their service with the United Nations forces in the Congo in the 1960's.

    Emperor Haile Selassie appeared on a Palace terrace and promised to hold discussions with a committee of veterans and Minister of Defence Lt. Gen. Aman Andom.

    The soldiers claim that they did not receive their full allowance for their Congo service and that about 28 million Ethiopian dollars (5 1/2 million sterling) was paid to Ethiopia but never reached them.

    They allege the money was misappropriated by Government Ministers.

    The soldiers shouted down a Government members who tried to read to them a decision on the question and called for the Emperor. When Haile Selassie appeared the soldiers saluted.

    SYNOPSIS: More than three thousand Ethiopian veterans of United Nation's service during the Congo crisis marched in protest through Addis Ababa on Tuesday. They were claiming allowances they said had not been paid since their U.N. service in the nineteen sixties. They say more than five million sterling of U.N. money paid to Ethiopia never reached them.

    The veterans, who marched from the Ministry of Defence to the Jubilee Palace to meet their Emperor, allege their money was misappropriated by Government Ministers.

    Emperor Haile Selassie came to speak to them after the veterans shouted down a Government Minister who tried to read out the Emperor's decision.

    Some of the Congo veterans are still soldiers. Others are now in the police force or are Palace guards.

    The Emperor agreed to discuss the issue with a veteran's committee and Defence Minister, General Andom.
