    THE DUKE OF EDINBURGH ON 13 FEBRUARY VISITED THE OUTWARD BOUND SCHOOL AT ANAKIWA, ON THE SOUTH ISLAND OF NEW ZEALAND.HE FLEW THERE FROM NELSON IN A GRUMMAN WIDGEON AMPHIBIOUS AIRCRAFT.HE WAS MET BY MR.O.S.HINTZ, VICE-PRESIDENT OF NEW ZEALAND'S OUTWARD BOUND SCHOOL, AND MR.HAMISH THOMAS, THE SCHOOL'S WARDEN.

    THE DUKE SPENT AN HOUR AND A HALF TOURING THE SCHOOL BUILDINGS AND TRAINING AREAS.EACH COURSE LASTS 23 DAYS.IT TAKES 48 BOYS, WHO COME FROM SCHOOLS AND FACTORIES, AND COSTS GBP40 A HEAD.

    THE NEW ZEALAND BRANCH OF THE OUTWARD BOUND TRUST WAS OPENED LAST SEPTEMBER BY LORD COBHAM, THE FORMER GOVERNOR-GENERAL.
