  • Description

In Amman, Jordan, as in other Arab Nations bordering Israel, the third anniversary of the June War was marked with meetings and speeches in a mood of confidence. Commando units from El Fatah, P.F.L.P. and other "freedom" organisations gathered to demonstrate the confidence they have in fighting for their cause. A main speaker at the rally was Dr. George Habash, leader of the P.F.L.P.

About 5,000 Commandos and sympathisers gathered to hear guerilla leaders and, in particular, Dr. Habash speak in new mood of confidence about their ability to face the Israelis.

Three years after the bitter drubbing of the Arab Forces, and the muted anniversary ceremonies of the past two years, this anniversary was played up as an occasion to mark what is seen as a turn in the tide.

Dr. Habash denounced America, Imperialism and Zionism to the demonstrative crowd.
