Background: The Australian yacht Ragamuffin, skippered by Syd Fischer, this week won the Fastnet race. Her corrected time for the race, from Cowes, Isle of Wight, to the Fastnet rock off Southern Ireland and back to Plymouth, was 76 hours 8 minutes, more than two hours faster than Britain's Quails III (D. Parr) and more than three hours faster than American Eagle (Ted Turner), the first boat home.
Australia's hopes of winning the Admiral's Cup, were dashed on Tuesday when Koomooloox lost a rudder. The cup went to the British team.
Syd Fischer was interviewed by Peter Crampton aboard the 48 ft. Ragamuffin. A victory party was in full swing on the yacht.
