  • Description

Members of the Young Wing of the KENYA AFRICAN NATIONAL UNION, the ruling party, demonstrated in Nairobi yesterday (July 20) protesting against the attack on the Prime Minister, Jomo Kenyatta, in London last week.

The demonstrators gathered outside the building of the British High Commissioner, Sir Geoffrey De Freitas, who met a deputation.

Sir Geoffrey said he could add nothing to the statement issued by the British Prime Minister, Sir Alec Douglas-Home.

In his statement, Sir Alec personally apologised to Mr. Kenyatta and said he was greatly distressed that a guest of the British Government should have been subjected to a deplorable attack.

The incident took place outside the Hilton Hotel in Park Lane on Wednesday (July 15) and later two men appeared in Bow Street Court. They were remanded on bail until July 28.
