  • Description

THIRTY-THOUSAND PHILIPPINE STUDENTS PASSED A "DEATH SENTENCE" ON MALAYSIA'S PRIME MINISTER AND ON BRITISH AND AMERICA REPRESENTATIVES DURING A DEMONSTRATION ON SATURDAY, WHEN THEY TRIED AND HUNG EFFIGIES IN PROTEST AGAINST MALAYSIA AND THE DISPUTE OVER THE TERRITORY OF SABAH.

THE MASS PROTEST BEGAN WITH A RALLY IN THE ARANETA STADIUM WHEN SPEAKERS URGED THE PHILIPPINES CLAIM TO THE MALAYSIAN TERRITORY OF SABAH.

AFTERWARDS, THE STUDENTS HELD A MOCK TRIAL, USING EFFIGIES OF THE MALAYSIAN PREMIER TUNKU ABDUL RAHMAN, THE BRITISH FAR EAST COMMANDER, GENERAL MICHAEL CARVER AND U.S. STATE DEPARTMENT SPOKESMAN ON FAR EAST AFFAIRS, MR ROBERT McCLOSKEY. THEY WERE FOUND "GUILTY" AND THEIR EFFIGIES HANGED.

ALL THREE MEN HAVE SPOKEN OUT AGAINST THE PHILIPPINES CLAIM TO SABAH. THE TUNKU HAS REFUSED TO TAKE THE PHILIPPINES CLAIM TO THE WORLD COURT. GENERAL CARVER HAS, ACCORDING TO THE STUDENTS, APPROVED A SHOW OF BRITISH STRENGTH IN SUPPORT OF MALAYSIA, AND MR MCCLOSKEY ISSUED A STATEMENT RECOGNISING THE MALAYSIAN FEDERATION, INCLUDING SABAH.
