Background: Australian Graeme McGregor was the runaway winner of the Isle of Man junior Tourist Trophy (TT) 250cc motorcycle race on June 7. He averaged 176.33 kilometres per hour on his British-built EMC bike and improved the lap record from 177.07 kph to 178.73 kph. McGregor took the lead on the second of the six-lap race and stayed firmly in front. Charlie Williams finished more than a minute behind on his Yamaha after an exciting duel for second place with fellow Briton Joey Dunlop, riding a Honda. Dunlop was running second when he retired with engine failure only 12.8 kilometres from the finish. Another British rider, Brian Reid, came third on his EMC bike.
