  • Description

Continuing their tour of the Northwest Territories, Queen Elizabeth and other members of the British Royal Family have been visiting many of the larger towns and cities in Manitoba. At Brandon, in the heart of the wheat country, Her Majesty laid the cornerstone of a new university building.

Now nearing the end of the ten-day tour which culminates with the centenary celebrations of the Northwest Territories and Manitoba, the Royal party have been making brief stops at many communities as their special train brings them south towards Winnipeg.

At Brandon University, the cornerstone marked the start of yet another new building on the faculty--a science section.

Later the Royal visitors went to the stadium in Brandon for an entertainment staged in true Manitoba style.
