Background: Tiny Spanish right winger Tejada shattered Northern Ireland in Madrid October 15. He scored four of Spain's six goals against Ireland's two.

Portsmouth goalkeeper Norman Uprichard - standing in for Harry Gregg - was Ireland's unhappy star. He managed at least seven brilliant saves.

The Spaniards, with seven Real Madrid stars, including GBP10,000 a year centre-forward Alfredo di Stefano, were too strong, too clever.

Goals: Tejada, Kubala, Wilbur, Cush, Suares, Jimmy Melroy.

It was Spain's first game against N. Ireland. Throughout they played copybook football with speed, fire, excellent tactics.

NORTHERN IRELAND: Upriched (Portsmouth); Keith (Newcastle); McMichael (Newcastle); Blachflower (Tottenham); Forde (Ards); Casey (Portsmouth); Bingham (Luton); Cush Leeds); McParland (Aston Villa); McIlroy (Burnley); Tully (Celtic).

SPAIN: Alonso; Quincoces; Lesmes; Santisteban; Santamaria; Zarraga; Tejada; Kubala; Di Stefano; Suarez; Gento.
