Background: A unique tourist service, sponsored by the Belgian Sabena Airline, has recently commences operations in France. Every Sunday for the next five weeks, helicopters of the Sabena Company will leave Paris on a day's tour of the chateau districts. Passengers embark at the special helistation and are whisked away for the journey during which more than a dozen famous chateaux are seen from the air. A stop is made for lunch which also gives an idea of the pleasure enjoyed by those who can make an unhurried visit to the chateau country. The Chateau of Chambord is one of the many magnificent palaces to be seen on the trip. Built by Francois 1, it is of special interest from the air because of the riot of chimneys and turrets, among which parties used to be given in former days. Chenonceaux, which forms a bridge over the river Cher, is the only chateau seen on the trip from the ground. A rough heliport has been set up near it, there the helicopter refuels. Another chateau which is seen at its best from the helicopter is Villandry. Its formal French garden can be seen as a carpet of patterns in box lodging. The helicopter circles twice around every chateau so as to give the passenger a complete view without moving from their seats. The cost is GBP25 for a round trip. While the passengers are having lunch, the helicopter makes another/trip round six chateaux which costs a further GBP6.
