  • Description

In Taiwan, aviation authorities are still investigating the causes of last Wednesday's airline crash in which 14 people were killed.

It was during a heavy rainstorm that the prop-jet airliner of China Airlines crashed into a mountain as it was making its approach to Taipei airport during a routine domestic flight.

The plane broke up and burst into flames. The heavy downpour hampered rescue efforts.

Sixteen people were saved from the burning wreckage and are now recovering in a Taiwan Air Force Hospital. None of them is in a serious condition.
