    EIGHT AFRICAN NATIONS ARE REPRESENTED IN A TRAINING COURSE NOW TAKING PLACE AT THE UNIVERSITY OF LAGOS IN NIGERIA. THE COURSE WILL LAST FOR NINE WEEKS. THE PROGRAMME FOR BROADCASTING PROFESSIONALS COMMENCED ON THE 14TH OF JULY AND IS SPONSORED BY UNESCO. PARTICIPATING COUNTRIES ARE THE CENTRAL AFRICAN REPUBLIC, ETHIOPIA, GAMBIA, GHANA, TANZANIA, CAMEROUN, LIBERIA, TOGO, AND NIGERIA. THE DIRECTOR OF THE COURSE IS RICHARD ASPINALL, UNESCO EXPERT IN BROADCASTING AT THE LAGOS INSTITUTE OF MASS COMMUNICATION. THE COURSE WILL EXAMINE BOTH THE THEORETICAL AND PRACTICAL ASPECTS OF THE ELECTRONIC MEDIA.

    SYNOPSIS: YAKUBU GOWON HALL AT THE UNIVERSITY OF LAGOS IS THE SITE OF A NINE-WEEK BROADCAST TRAINING PROGRAMME. IT IS SPONSORED BY UNESCO.

    BROADCAST PROFESSIONALS FORM NINE AFRICAN NATIONS ARE TAKING PART IN THE PROGRAMME AT THE UNIVERSITY'S INSTITUTE FOR MASS COMMUNICATION.

    MR CHRISTOPHER KOLADE, DIRECTOR OF THE NIGERIAN BROADCASTING CORPORATION, IS AMONG THE TEACHERS. THE COURSE WILL CENTRE ON THE UTILIZATION OF ELECTRONIC MEDIA IN AFRICA'S ECONOMIC AND POLITICAL DEVELOPMENT. ALSO TO BE STUDIED ARE COMMUNICATION THEORIES, IN-SERVICE TRAINING FOR STATION OPERATORS AND PROGRAMMERS, AND THE OPPORTUNITIES FOR EXTENDING COMMUNITY SERVICES FOR BOTH RADIO AND TELEVISION. AMONG THE PARTICIPANTS ARE REPRESENTATIVES FORM CAMEROUN, GHANA, TANZANIA, KENYA, LIBERIA AND ZAMBIA. THE PROGRAMME WHICH BEGAN ON FOURTEENTH OF JULY WILL BE CONCLUDED ON THE TWELFTH OF SEPTEMBER.
