In the General Assembly at the United National on Wednesday (24 September) Iraq's Minister for Foreign Affairs, Dr. Saadoon Hammadi, reaffirmed his country's determination to have Israel expelled from the United Nations.
Dr. Hammadi told the delegates that the U.N. had been remiss in not taking action against Israel for its illegal occupation of Palestinian territories. He said it was now a year since the U.N. had adopted its famous resolutions affirming the inalienable rights of the people of Palestine to lands annexed by Israel in recent years. He said the fact that Israel still held such lands was a flagrant example of settler colonialism and perhaps one of the supreme cases of injustice in the history of mankind.
Also taking part in the debate Denmark's Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr. K.B. Andersen, said that all nations should be subjected to the obligations of the U.N. Charter but said Denmark opposed any attempt, contrary to the Charter, to expel or suspend any member of the U.N.
