Queen Elizabeth's heir, Prince Charles, played for the Commonwealth, scored once and then quickly scored his team's winning goal to give the Commonwealth team a 6-3 win over England. Anthony Devich, rated as an outstanding Polo horseman, scored three goals and Sinclair Hill one. The award for the best pony in the match went to Harry Horswell's Echo.

Although it looked like one of the best sides fielded since World War Two they were no match for the South Americans -- seen here playing in white with England in dark blue. Through six chukkas in wet conditions the South Americans showed superior co-ordination and marking. Here their captain, Gonzalo Pierez scores the winning goal.
