    AN EXHIBITION OF SOVIET PHOTOGRAPHY HAS OPENED IN ACCRA, GHANA, TO COINCIDE WITH CELEBRATIONS OF THE 50TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE SOVIET OCTOBER REVOLUTION. THE NLC MEMBER RESPONSIBLE FOR SPORTS, ARTS AND CULTURE, MR. DEKU, OPENED THE EXHIBITION AT THE CAPITAL'S ARTS CENTRE LAST WEEK.

    THE EXHIBITION DEPICTS THE SOVIET PEOPLE AND SOME OF THE DEVELOPMENTS SINCE THE OCTOBER REVOLUTION.

    IN HIS OPENING SPEECH MR. DEKU SAID CULTURE HAD BECOME THE SUREST BASIS FOR CREATING UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN PEOPLES. THE SOVIET REVOLUTION HAD A LOT IN COMMON WITH THE FEBRUARY 1966 REVOLUTION IN GHANA, HE SAID.

    MR. BORIS VOROBIEV, CHARGE D'AFFAIRES OF THE SOVIET EMBASSY IN GHANA, SAID HE HOPE THE EXHIBITION WOULD STRENGTHEN THE BONDS OF FRIENDSHIP BETWEEN THE TWO COUNTRIES. HE HOPED IT WOULD GIVE THE GHANAIAN PEOPLE SOME IMPRESSION OF SOVIET ACHIEVEMENTS SINCE THE OCTOBER REVOLUTION.

    MR. DEKU CUT A TAPE TO DECLARE THE EXHIBITION OFFICIALLY OPEN. HE WAS SHOWN ROUND THE EXHIBITION BY MR. VOROBIEV AND MR. G.T. ANIM, EXECUTIVE SECRETARY OF THE DEPARTMENT OF ARTS AND CULTURE.

    SUBJECTS COVERED IN THE EXHIBITION INCLUDED THE LENIN MONUMENT IN MOSCOW, MOSCOW STATE UNIVERSITY, PERSONALITIES IN THE ARTS WORLD, AND SCENES OF THE SOVIET WAY OF LIFE.
