Background: King Moshoeshoe of Lesotho arrived in Dar es Salaam to begin a five-day state visit to Tanzania yesterday (11 November). He flew in from the Zambian capital Lusaka, where he and his host -- President Julius Nyerere -- had discussed the situation in southern Africa and Augola with two other African heads of state.
Shortly after his arrival in Dar es Salaam, King Moshoeshoe declared that events in southern Africa are moving so fast that little time remains for a peaceful settlement. Lasting peace could only be achieved by eliminating all discrimination.
Besides further talks with his host on the situation in southern Africa, the King was scheduled to visit two game parks in Tanzania and the island of Zanzibar.
