  • Description

The Swiss Consular Agency at Oran, western Algeria, was pillaged May 21 by Europeans demonstrating against the Algerian peace talks at Evian, a French resort on the shores of Lake Geneva.

The nationalist delegation is staying at Bois d'Avrault, outside Geneva, in Switzerland. That is why the Swiss Consular Agency has new become involved in the spate of outrages in France and Algeria, mostly caused by plastic bombs, to coincide with the start of the talks.

Papers were scattered everywhere, typewriter damaged, and files ransacked. The Agency's flag and plaque were unceremoniously torn down.
