Background: Coastal Catholics body organised protest by the community against the highhandedness of the Communist Government's police, of firing at the innocent demonstrators at school picketings at Pulluvilla and Kochuveli villages on 15th June in which four persons were killed on the spots and many others injured one of whom died in the hospital, and another firing, earlier, on 13th June at Ankamali near Cochin on a protest procession against the arresting and assaulting of the picket of toddy shop, the anti-drink movement which had nothing to do with the present agitation (against the Communist regime), in which five persons wee killed and 22 injured of whom 2 died in the hospital. Most of the killed were Christians.

Coastal Catholics, man and women took out a procession in Trivandrum, the Capital of the State with banners reading 'Dismiss Communist rule' etcetera and went over to the graves of the victims of police firing and laid wreaths.

Kerala's population includes about, one third, the Christians and the rest, Hindus and Muslims. This is the only state in India where there are more Christians as compared to those in other states. They are very peaceful community and live in harmony with the other communities. Their culture is same s other communities'. They are very devotional and regular at attending the Church. The educational institutions in the state are mostly to the credit of this community. This is why the Catholics have an important role in the agitation against the Education Act of the Communist Government, the provisions of which deviate from those of the age old system of education of the children of Kerala in which there is the hand of other communities too, for instance, the Nairs Service Society (Hindus) have to their credit a number of important schools and colleges. The feeling of masses against the education act is that by its instrument, the communist ideology is creeping through the minds of the generations in their infancy.

The Archbishop of Trivandrum, His Grace, the Most Rev, Dr Benedict Mar Gregorious, is said to be an important-most leader of the ageold system of education and so he is an important figure at the helm of the agitation too but it is not so as alleged by the Communists that the present agitation is the concern of Catholics only, as the mass upsurge is evident, that so many others than the Catholic are participants in the overall agitation. Two American correspondents went to interview the Archbishop and were told that the prepared of the Communist Govt that the present agitation is sponsored by the Catholics only, is unfounded and deliberately mischievous. As regards the education act, he said, it is harmful for the general masses due to the communist ideology being taught to the children, by its means while the overall agitation is due to the masses dissatisfaction with the government due to its overall policies.

Our coverage on this film starts with the Archbishop being interviewed by the two Americans and is followed by the scenes of Christine at church and concludes with the Coastal Catholics protests over the police firing and honour to the victims of the same
