    Ivory Coast President Felix Houphouet-Boigny, discussed the Spanish Sahara and other African conflicts with special Algerian Envoy Mr. Mohamed Shanoun on Thursday (4 December).

    Mr. Shanoun carried a message to President Houphouet-Boigny form the Algerian President, Houari Boummedienne. President Houphouet-Boigny has just been re-elected to the presidency of the Ivory Coast for another five years.

    Mr. Shanoun said after the meeting that on the Spanish Sahara, Algeria has always believed in "the principle of self determination for the people of the area."
    SYNOPSIS: The Presidential residence in Abidjan, the Ivory Coast, where special Algerian Envoy Mr. Mohamed Shanoun, has just flown to hold a meeting with President Felix Houphouet-Boigny.

    Less than an hour before the meeting, President Houphouet-Boigny had just been sworn in as officially re-elected President for another five year term. Mr. Shanoun carried with him the congratulations of the Algerian Envoy and President Houphouet-Boigny discussed the situation in the Spanish Sahara and the "sad problem of Angola." After the meeting Mr. Shanoun said that on the Spanish Sahara, Algeria had always believed in the principle of self determination for the people of the area.
