  • Description

Now England suffered nine deaths and several million dollars in danger as a result of yesterday's savage nor-caster.

Up in Toronto, Canada, electric service was expected to be back to normal today following the worst power failure in that city's history. New flurries dumped another nine inches of snow there making it a bit tougher for linemen who are trying to repair damage caused by ice. Enterprising garages have no car-wash business but they are using hot stream equipment to melt snow off of frozen automobiles.

New moon tides are always high -- but they act a 108 year record along Boston's coast line. Tons of water cascaded gracefully over the sea-wall at Revere Beach. Beautiful -- but beastly. The tides sent seven feet of water swirling into some Boston streets. Seven hundred families fled their homes in this wet kiss from winter.

The worst ice storm in thirty years snapped trees and power lines in Western New York state. Dangerous live wires were pulled down and at least two deaths were attributed to electrocutions. The snow, sleet, and rain knocked several television and radio stations off the air in Buffalo, New York.

And the weatherman had more sad news for this western New York area. Twenty-five mile an hour winds and as much as there inches of snow may be on the way.
