  • Description

Actress Jane Fonda on Friday (29 July) dismissed as absurd charges that she was a traitor because of her broadcasts over Hanoi radio, while she was visiting North Vietnam.

The actress told a packed press conference in New York that her broadcasts consisted of appeals to U.S. pilots aboard carriers in the Gulf of Tonkin to stop bombing Vietnam.

Miss Fonda said that she would lay down her life for the defence of her own country and added "I believe that the people who are speaking out against the war are the patriots."
