    44-YEAR-OLD CHINESE INTERPRETER CHOU HUNG-CHING HAS RETURNED TO THE PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF CHINA FROM JAPAN. HE WENT TO TOKYO THREE MONTHS AGO WITH AN INDUSTRIAL TRADE MISSION AND STAYED THERE.

    EARLIER TOKYO REPORTS SAID HE HAD EXPRESSED THE DESIRE TO SEE BOTH JAPAN AND TAIWAN. MR. CHOU'S DECISION TO RETURN HOME ENDED WHAT WAS DESCRIBED AS HIS "THREE MONTHS OF INDECISION." HE WAS REPORTED TO HAVE SAID THAT HIS PRIMARY INTEREST WAS TO BE BACK WITH HIS FAMILY IN PEKING.

    THE CHIANG KAI-SHEK REGIME TOLD JAPAN IT STRONGLY OPPOSED THEIR MOVES TO FACILITATE THE RETURN OF MR. CHOU. THE REGIME ALSO THREATENED TO BOYCOTT ANY SHIPPING LINE WHICH ACCEPTED HIM AS A PASSENGER.
