    General Sir Hugh Stockwell, commander of the British forces in the Suez campaign in 1956, was the first of 179 people to receive the insignia of their awards when the Duke of Edinburgh held another investiture on behalf of the Queen at Buckingham Palace, London, November 3.

    General Stockwell - now Adjudant General - received the insignia of a Knight Grand Cross of the Order of the Bath, and accompanying him at the Palace were his wife and daughter.

    Vice-Admiral Sir Peveril William Powlett, Governor of Southern Rhodesia, received the decoration of a Knight Commander of the Order of St. Michael and St. George, and Major Frank Kitson, one of several officers of the Green Howards to receive awards, was presented with the O.B.E.
