    KENYA'S ATTORNEY-GENERAL, MR. CHARLES NJONJO, THE CHAIRMAN OF THE DR. BARNARDO'S HOME IN NAIROBI, ACCEPTED A CHEQUE FOR GBP500 WHICH THE INVESTORS OVERSEAS SERVICES FOUNDATION OF GENEVA, SWITZERLAND, HAD DONATED.

    THE CHEQUE, WHICH WAS PRESENTED BY MRS. L.S. ROZSA, THE CHAIRMAN OF THE I.O.S. FOUNDATION IN EAST AFRICA, WILL GO TOWARDS THE BUILDING OF AN ADDITIONAL WING TO THE MAIN BUILDING.

    THE DR. BARNARDO'S HOME IN NAIROBI IS THE ONLY ONE OF ITS KIND IN AFRICA. THE HOME IS RUN ENTIRELY ON VOLUNTARY DONATIONS. FIFTY PER CENT OF THESE COME FROM THE UNITED KINGDOM, AND THE REST OF THE MONEY IS RAISED IN EAST AFRICA. IT COSTS GBP20,000 A YEAR TO KEEP THE HOME GOING -- THAT WORKS OUT AT EIGHTEEN SHILLINGS PER DAY FOR EACH CHILD.
