The Angolan Prime Minister, Senhor Lopo do Nascimento, has denounced Dr. Henry Kissinger's plan for black majority rule in Rhodesia as 'a bid to create a neo-colonialist regime and a buffer zone for South Africa'.
SYNOPSIS: Speaking on Rome, Italy, on Thursday (30 September), he said the plan proposed by the United States Secretary of State was "nothing more than the reply of imperialism to its overthrow in Angola". He criticised Rhodesian leader Mr. Ian Smith's plan to have a white chairman of an interim council of state, and whites as interior and defence ministers, as being unequal. He said these were the positions of real power and that it would keep the black nationalists in Rhodesia in the same position. Senhor do Nascimento refused to answer questions about how many Cuban soldiers were now in Angola. "It is a military secret," he said.
Senhor do Nascimento also claimed that there were six commando training areas in neighbouring Zaire, and the more arms were being sent into the country. Angola was faced with infiltration by FNLA guerrillas from Zaire, and from UNITA forces being trained in a South African-controlled camp in Namibia.
