    The American delegation was led by W. Michael Blumenthal, who is chairman of the National Committee on U.S.-China relations. Assisting Mr. Blumenthal was the committee president, Charles W. Yost, and a supporting team of six.

    Premier Chou En-lai and vice-Foreign Minister Chiao Kuan-hua welcomed the Americans before the wide ranging talks began.

    SYNOPSIS: In Peking, the beginning of another round of talks designed to further improve Sino-American relations. The latest delegation from the United States arrived in The People's Republic of China on June 15 and w??? welcomed by Premier Chou En-lai and vice-Foreign Minister Chiao Kuan-hua. Leading the Americans, W. Michael Blumenthal, who is chairman of the National Committee on U.S.-China Relations. He was supported by the president of the committee, Charles W. Yost, and a team of six--four men and two women.

    The wives of the two American delegation leaders were also at the function.

    There were hand shakes all round to begin, then it was on to the customary photographic session. During both, Premier Chou chatted and joked with his American guests.

    The Chinese, too, provided a high-ranking team of 12 negotiators, including the vice-president of the Chinese People's Institute for Foreign Affairs, Ko Po-Nien.

    In the closing stages -- a few personal exchanges between Premier Chou and Mr. Blumenthal: then, the wide ranging discussions began.
