Background: The German Grand Prix international jumping contest was won by an "outside"....Hermann Schridde, of Germany, on "Flagrant". The final took place at Dortmund on March 24th.
Schridde jumped brilliantly to make the 17 jumps over a 490-metre course in a time of 29.7 seconds, with no penalties.
In second and third places were two other Germans - Neckermann, on "Taifun", (37.0 seconds, no penalties), and Winkler, the Olympic champion, on "Feuerdorn", (38.0 seconds, no penalties).
Raimondo d'Inzeo, of Italy, another Olympic champion, started as one of the "favourites". Leading riders from the USA and other European countries took part in the tournament.
