  • Description

Continuing their tour of Scandinavian countries, the First and Third Canadian escort squadrons arrived in Copenhagen, capital of Denmark, on Monday, October 21.

The group is under the command of Captain Angus G. Boulton, famed war-time U. Boat hunter who was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross for his work against enemy submarines.

Captain Boulton commands the St. Laurent, one of the world's most modern submarine hunters and a vital part of the NATO maritime force in the Atlantic.

Once the six boats had tied up, the sailors swarmed ashore to see the sights of Copenhagen including the famous Danish guards outside the royal palace, the English church, and the little mermaid perched on her rock in the harbour entrance.

Scheduled to stay in Copenhagen for eight days, the Canadian ships follow up a recent visit by a French escort vessel.
