    A SOLEMN CEREMONY WAS HELD IN LEOPOLDVILLE ON WEDNESDAY MARKING THE 46TH ANNIVERSARY OF ARMISTICE DAY - 11 NOVEMBER 1918. THE CEREMONY TOOK PLACE AT THE CITY WAR MEMORIAL AND CONGOLESE DIGNITARIES, JOINED BY FOREIGN REPRESENTATIVES, HELD A SHORT SERVICE OF COMMEMORATION IN HONOUR OF THE DEAD OF THE TWO WORLD WARS.

    ATTENDING THE CEREMONY WAS MR. MOISE TSHOMBE, THE PRIME MINISTER AND PRESIDENT KASAVUBU. THE PRESIDENT LIT AN ETERNAL FLAME IN FRONT OF THE MEMORIAL.

    AMONG THE DIPLOMATIC REPRESENTATIVES WAS THE UNITED STATES AMBASSADOR TO LEOPOLDVILLE - MR. McMURTRIE GODLEY.
