  • Description

Four women and a man, all members of an anti-Castro group, were arrested in New York City on Thursday (6 February) for allegedly causing a disturbance at the British Consul General's office.

Police said the group invaded the waiting room of the office on the 11th floor of a building at 845 Third Avenue. According to police, they threw eggs filled with red paint against the walls, upset chairs and a table, and shouted: "No buses for Cuba!"
Patrolmen from the nearby East 51st Street stationhouse responded to a call, and seized the Cubans. One of the women had a Cuban flag with her when she was arrested and refused to surrender it to the police.

The five Cubans were taken to the East 51st Street stationhouse; booked, and then taken to the city jail to be held pending arraignment. They said they were members of the Thirtieth of November Central Delegation in Exile, one of a number of anti-Castro Cuban exile groups headquartered in New York City.
