    Cadet officers form Paskistan, the Middle East, Africa and Southeast Asia graduated form the Pakistan Military Academy at Kakul on Friday (19 April).

    Reviewing the traditional President's Parade, Pakistani President Fazal Elahi Chaudhry hailed the graduating officers as defenders of Islam.

    While most of the graduates were members of Pakistan's armed forces, young men from Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Libya and Malaysia were also on parade. Representatives from more than sixty countries watched the colourful event. President Chaudhry presented awards to the outstanding young officere whe had taken the two-year training course.

    Following the parade, the Pakistani President told the young officers that nothing should be allowed to stand in the way of building up a strong Pakistan. He said that the Pakistan Government was determined to put the country in a position where it could never again be subjected to military aggression or political pressure.

    Pakistan has a military training co-operation scheme with several other countries; and cadets from Abu Dhabi, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Jordan,, Turkey, Nigeria, Libya, Syria, Kuwait, Sudan and Malaysia have attended the course at the Military Academy at Kakul.
