  • Description

A group of some 300 former Fascist supporters gathered in the Church of San Gines in Madrid today (Friday), to mourn the 27th anniversary of the death of Benito Mussolini - the Italian dictator who was killed by partisans in Milan at the end of World War II.

Among the mourners was Ramon Serrano Suner, a brother-in-law of General Franco and a former Spanish Foreign Minister; and Louis d'Arquier de Pellepoix, the Commissioner-General for Jewish Affairs in the Vichy Government of France during the German occupation.

After a church service, armed police stood by as the group sang the Spanish Falangist anthem "Cara al Sol" (Face to the Sun) and gave the Fascist salute.
