  1. EBAFAN says

This was the final of the EBA Cup played Aug 7, 1926, at the Baseball Park, Lower Breck Rd. Match reports are in the Liverpool papers of Aug 9.. Crystal won by one run. The first team shown is Everton Standing, L to R - W. Winter, G. Evans, J. Sullivan, R. Johnson, D. Mackinlay, L. Haynes, J. Barron Kneeling, L to R - T. Greaves, A. Simpson, J. Jackson I am unable to put names to the faces in the Crystal team except for the captain T. Edgar (black shorts). He is next seen at the toss-up with Everton’s captain Jack Barron.and then, during play, as pitcher. Crystal was managed by R. D. Runcie, electrical engineer with Tate & Lyle Ltd.. He was the father of Robert Runcie who became Archbishop of Canterbury in 1980. In his biography the Archbishop mentions the Crystal Club and fondly recalls his childhood days when his father would take him to either a football or baseball match on a Saturday. So it is highly probable that he was watching this game. He would have been five years old.
