    AS THE FIGHTING WENT ON IN CHOLON'S RUBBLE LITTERED STREETS SAIGON SHOOK UNDER ONE OF ITS BIGGEST ROCKET AND MORTAR ATTACKS OF THE CONFLICT.

    UNITED STATES OFFICIALS SAY THE AIM OF THE NEW VIET CONG OFFENSIVE APPEARED TO BE TO CAUSE A MAXIMUM OF HAVOC AND DESTRUCTION INSIDE THE CAPITAL FOR THE LEAST COMMITMENT IN MEN AND AMMUNITION.
