    The signing of the Convention on the Prohibition of the development, Production and Stockpiling of Bacteriological /Biological/ and Toxin Weapons and on their Destruction took place in Moscow. The first to sign the Convention were Andrei Gromyko, the USSR Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jacob Beam, the Ambassador of the USA in the USSR, and Sir John Killick, the Ambassador of GREAT Britain in the USSR. Hikolii Podgorny, President of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR, stressed in his speech that the Soviet Union and other Socialist countries had played a large part in the preparation of this Document which meets the wide approval of the world public. On the same day the Convention was signed by representatives of 44 states. The signing of the convention is one of the concrete results of the active efforts of the Soviet Government which pursue the Leninist policy of peace and call for the prohibition of all kinds of weapons of mass destruction.
