  • Description

The Chairman of Ghana's National Liberation Council, Lieutenant-General Ankrah, on Friday presented wings to four pilots and seven flight cadets at a passing-out parade at Ghana's Air Force Training Station at Takoradi.

The officers and cadets formed the twelfth and thirteenth groups to have completed a 12-month basic and advanced training course in flying.

In a speech, General Ankrah reminded the men of their loyalty to the Government and the Ghanaian people, and told them that they must be on their guard against saboteurs and subversionists.

General Ankrah had flown to Takoradi in an aircraft of the Ghana Air Force, and was received by Air Vice-Marshal Otu, the Air Force Commander; by Major-General Ocran and by Commander Vasanth, Adviser to the Navy. He was accompanied by his wife, and by Brigadier Afrifa, a member of the NLC and Commandant of the Military Academy at Teshie Accra.

The Sword of Honour went to Pilot Officer C.C. Nettey; the Speed Bird Trophy was won by Flight Cadet A. Kilba, and the Shell Trophy by Flight Lieutenant A.H.K. Dumashie.
