ALLON BRIEF PRESSER (IN ENGLISH)
Asked what he and women talked about he replied: Gave them detailed account of our actions from the time we first heard Abu Daod had been caught, up to the present time. Agreed to form a joint committee with relatives to plan future actions and allow the relatives to have a say in these actions. Now we have to wait for the official French clarification and explanation of "this unbelievable step" (freeing of AD). Meanwhile, we will continue trying to explain our case.
Q: How can France make amends to Israel : Answers he doesn't expect any Arab government to hand Abu Daod back to France to turn over to Israel. On the other hand he thinks French government is clever enough to find a way to satisfy Israel.
EXT: Silent shot Mrs. Spitzer and Mrs. Romano with newsmen outside building. Mrs. Spitzer makes English statement about what transpired at talks. Says the women wanted Mr. Allon to hear our explanation of our actions. They agreed to form a joint committee for future plans and as yet she coudn't say what these would be. Asked if they disappointed about Israel's refusal to send French ambassador home and break off diplomatic relations, Mrs. Spitzer said relatives had wanted this, but Mr. Allon had explained his reasons why this would not be done. They didn't think it was satisfactory but neverless there it was. Mrs. Spitzer reiterated families would not rest until AD was brought to trial in Israel and justice was done
