  • Description

Three Jordanian soldiers arrived on Vienna today (Saturday) on their way to the famous Badgastein Spa, where they will undergo treatment. The soldiers came to Austria at the combined invitation of hotel owners in Badgastein.

In June this year separate invitations were sent to King Hussein of Jordan and Prime Minister Levi Eshkol of Israel, inviting each to sent three of their war wounded to Badgastein. No official acceptance has yet come from authorities in Tel Aviv, but an acceptance came from Amman on July 24.

Three Jordanian soldiers - all suffering paralysis - were selected to undergo treatment at the Spa. The men are Sobhi Mahmoud Moussa, Abdullah Ghouri and Ibrahim Abdul Fatal.

The men were flown free of charge to Vienna airport, and were then transferred to a helicopter which took them on to Badgastein.

They will spend three to four weeks undergoing treatment.

The Spa is well-known for the curative effects of its waters. During World War II it served as a convalescent home for hundreds of wounded soldiers. Doctors at Badgastein claim they have cured everything from broken bones to nervous exhaustion.

The local Red Cross is co-operating in the venture.
