SYNOPSIS: Signor Fanfani's talks with the Israeli Foreign Minister took place in Mr Dayan's Tel Aviv office, where on arrival he was greeted by ministry officials. An economist as well as a politician, Mr Fanfani has served two terms as Italy's Prime Minister.
In his talks with Mr Dayan, Signor Fanfani discussed a variety of subjects, the most important of which was the latest developments in the peace discussions between Egypt and Israeli. For Mr Dayan this was one of his first official engagement since his return from a mystery trip abroad two days before. Israeli newspapers claimed he'd had secret talks with the Shah of Iran.
Signor Fanfani also took advantage of his visit to Tel Aviv to meet former Israeli Prime Minister, Mrs Golda Meir, who represented Israel's opposition Labour Party in brief discussions.
The following day the 79-year-old Israeli politician was admitted to hospital after complaining that she felt faint. Doctors have since said she's feeling better.
