Brigadier Fautario was held prisoner by his officers for eight hours before being released
    But minutes after Senor Robledo's speech radio transmitters seized by rebels the previous day (18 December) came back on the air with bulletins denouncing the ineptitude and immorality of the elected national authorities and calling for Senora Peron's resignation

    As the situation worsen throughout Friday the country's Senate met and on Friday night Senator Luis Leon, a prominent member of the Argentine opposition radical party, told journalists that leaders of all party groups in the Senate -- including the Peronists -- had signed a petition saying that Senor Peron should request a period of leave as the only way of saving the country's constitution
    However, there was no indication from Senora Peron that she would concede to the Senate's suggestion to avert the current crisis
