    THE PROTEST TOOK PLACE AT THE VILLAGE OF SOIGNIES IN THE FRENCH-SPEAKING PROVINCE OF HAINAUT.AT A STORMY MEETING, FARMERS DEMANDED HIGHER PRICES FOR SUGAR-BEET AND MILK.

    AN OPEN FIRE PROVIDED SOME COMFORT FROM THE FREEZING WEATHER AS THE 2,000-STRONG MEETING HEARD APPEALS FOR A PARLIAMENTARY INQUIRY INTO THE MATTER.

    AFTERWARDS, THE DEMONSTRATORS DECIDED TO DRIVE TO BRUSSELS AND BLOCK TRAFFIC ON THE WAY.BUT POLICE MOVED IN, BLOCKING THE ROAD WITH THEIR OWN VEHICLES.THE FARMERS DISPERSED PEACEFULLY.
