  • Description

The Italian attack in the Royal International Horse Show at the White city London gained momentum today (Tuesday) when Mancinelli on Rockette and Piero dInzeo on Sunbeam filled the first two places, with four seconds dividing them into the Nizefela Stakes.

This competition, judged on time in the first round, was a qualifier for the King George V and Queen Elizabeth cups tomorrow but it also provided occupational therapy for horses not engaged in any of the later events, chief of which was the final event for the Lonsdale Puissance championship.

Miss Broome of Britain, a 21-year-old farmers' daughters, gained a magnificent double when she won the Lonsdale championship on her fiance's horse jacapo. She was the only rider from a field of 19 to get three clear rounds in this Puissance-type contest in which the fences are reduced in number but raised in height or increased in width in the jump off.

In second place was Seamus Hayes, of Ireland, on Goodbye, with four faults. Britain's David Barker, on Beefeater, was third. Baker also collected four faults but took third position on time.
