  • Description

The Reverend Philip Berrigan and Sister Elizabeth McAllister were found guilty on three lesser counts in the Harrisburg Conspiracy trial in Pennsylvania on Wednesday (April 5). However, the jury was unable to reach a verdict on the major charge in the alleged kidnapping bombing plot.

After the trial, Sister McAllister told newsmen: "I reel I won " -- although she could still face up to 30 years imprisonment on the lesser counts which involve smuggling letters in and out of Lewisburg Prison, where Father Berrigan was imprisoned two years ago.

The Key charge which deadlocked the jury was that Father Berrigan and his six co-defendants had conspired to kidnap Presidential Adviser Henry Kissinger, blow up heating tunnels in government buildings in Washington and raid draft boards.

SYNOPSIS: Sister Elizabeth McAlister, a co-defendant in the Harrisburg Conspiracy trial, talked with reporters after the jury deadlocked on the key charge.
