    Nigeria led Ghana on points in both the men's and women's events at the end of the first day of the International Athletic meeting at Ibadan in Nigeria on Friday (24 April).

    It was the 21st annual competition between the two countries. On had was the Western State Governor, Colonel Adebayo. On the first day Nigeria scored 42 points to Ghana's 31 in the men's events, and led 41 points to 25 in the women's events.

    The 440 yards men's hurdles was won by K. Agbabokha of Nigeria, in 51.9 seconds with two Ghanian runners, Peter Mensah, and W. Williams in second and third places.

    The 100 yards women's hurdles went to the Nigerian girl Emilia Eder, with team-mate Vice Emahonor second and Ghanian C. Addu-amoah in third place. The winner's time was 15.7 secs.

    In another women's event -- 440 yards -- Alice Anum from Ghana was first in 55.7 seconds, T. Adeleke of Nigeria took second place, with Miss Bakari from Ghana third.

    The six miles event went to Robert Hackman from Ghana, with team-mates Sevor and W. Aryee in second and third places. The winner's time was 35 minutes 2 seconds.
