    Chief Gatsha Buthelezi of the Zulus, Chief Counsellor of the Kwazulu Bantustan in South Africa, left Lusaka on Wednesday (December 12) after a visit to Zambia which included talks with President Kenneth Kaun??? Chief Buthelezi was travelling on to Tanzania and Kenya "to pay respect to their leaders and see what it meant to be independent."
    The Chief, who has been called to most charismatic black politician in South Africa, said in Lusaka that the Bantustans, tribal homelands, we "poor old settlements" which had been imposed on the people.

    He said the majority of black South Africans were engaged in the struggle for equal economic, educational and social opportunities but did not believes in the using violence to achieve these aims. They were using the tools available.

    Chief Buthelezi said he was particularly grateful to President Kaun??? for looking after black South african refugees and sacrificing his country economically to identify himself and his people with the sufferings of South Africa's blacks.

    Recently in South Africa there were emotional scenes at the first ever "summit" conference of leaders of six of the homelands when Chief Buthelezi raised his arm in the clenched-first Black Power salute and roared to an audience of more than 500: "With power on our side, and God on our side, we shall overcome."
    Chief Buthelezi was seen off at Lusaka International Airport by Mr. Elija Mudenda, a former Foreign Minister of Zambia.
