Major Abdel Salam Jalloud...Libya's Deputy Premier...arrived in Algiers on Tuesday (12th January) to begin a round of talks on bilateral oil agreements and economic co-operation.
Major Jalloud, who was heading an 11-man delegation, was greeted by Algeria's Chief of Protocol M. Allahoune at Algiers' Dar GBP1 Beida Airfield.
Algeria is currently involved in negotiations with French oil companies for higher prices, while in Tripoli Major Jalloud had earlier completed a further round of talks with foreign oil interests in Libya aimed at bringing the country greater returns from its natural wealth.
At a press conference shortly after his arrival, Major Jalloud did not reveal the contents of a message he was delivering from the Chairman of Libya's Revolutionary Command Council, Colonel Gaddafi, to President Boumedienne of Algeria, However the two leaders are known to have agreed some weeks ago on further co-ordinating their oil policies.
