    Nigeria and the Ivory Coast have re-opened diplomatic relations after a three-year break because of the Nigerian civil war. A four-man Nigerian mission, headed by Chief Olatunji Omolodun, arrived in the Ivory Coast capital of Abidjan on Monday (October 18). They were greeted by Ivory Coast officials and several hundred Nigerians who are living in the Ivory Coast.

    It is believed that General Ojukwu, leader of the breakaway Biafran regime during the civil war, is still living in exile in the Ivory Coast, although Nigeria had formerly insisted that he leave before the resumption of diplomatic relations.

    SYNOPSIS: A four-man Nigerian mission arrived in the Ivory Coast capital of Abidjan on Monday to re-open diplomatic relations between the two countries. Nigeria broke off relations with the Ivory Coast in 1968 when the Ivory Coast recognised the breakaway Biafran regime of General Ojukwu.

    Hundreds of Nigerians, living in the Ivory Coast, greeted the new Charge d'Affaires, Chief John Olatunji Omolodun, when he arrived at abidjan Airport.

    After the welcoming ceremony the new Charge d'Affaires held a brief press conference.....
