Background: On April 26th, President Sangoula Lamizana of Upper Volta officially opened a big new industrial complex in Bobo Dioulasso -- the country's commercial capital. The official opening came just over two months after the establishment of a Government of National Renewal -- the President's plan to help solve Upper Volta's urgent political and financial problems.
The new complex -- a seed oil refinery -- covers an area of nine hectares and employs 300 people. It can process up to 40,000 tons of cotton seed, almonds and ground nuts a year.
In his opening speech, President Lamizane expressed his pleasure at new investment in the factory, which he said showed there was confidence in the country's future. He hoped this example would be followed by others who wanted to assist the development of Upper Volta.
